Ultimate Mixed Laser Hair Removal

“Two Lasers in every pulse for superior results”

The DUETTO MT is the world’s first ‘Mixed Technology’ laser, transcending all conventional laser hair removal systems by simultaneously delivering two laser wavelengths – Alexandrite (755nm) and Long Pulsed Nd: YAG (1064nm). Both gold standards in laser hair removal efficiency, now combined to offer the best possible results.

What is the latest Laser Hair Removal technology? The latest addition to the artillery of laser hair removal is the innovative Duetto MT (Mixed Technology) laser hair removal system.  It represents a quantum leap in laser hair removal treatment.

How does mixed laser hair removal technology work? The laser technology offers two lasers in one; a dual laser that emits the best gold standard lasers in laser hair removal; the Long pulsed Nd:YAG (1064 nm) laser as well as the Alexandrite (755 nm) laser. Unlike other laser hair removal technologies that emit only a single wavelength at a time i.e. Alexandrite or Nd YAG alone, the Duetto MT emits both lasers simultaneously.

What are the benefits of mixed laser hair removal treatment? The blend of the two lasers offers superior results in laser hair removal. The Duetto MT Laser hair removal system uses the latest in mixed laser hair removal technology to address the limitations of each of the gold standard lasers alone. Mixed Laser technology allows the clinician to simultaneously deliver a mix of both Alex (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) in varying proportions. Therefore, the percentage of each laser can be adjusted to cater for all skin and hair colours and textures. Mixing the Alexandrite with the Nd: YAG lasers in various amounts allows for increases in efficacy as well as safety.  Both lasers emitted simultaneously absorb into several targets in and around the hair follicle not merely the pigment thus obtaining optimal results for every individual.

The dual laser optimizes results, obtains faster results. It is the ultimate solution for laser hair removal on all skin tones.

Laser and IPL produce a photo thermal effect on the bulb of the hair. The treatment causes absorption of the laser or IPL light into the pigment contained in the hair bulb. The light energy causes an increase in temperature, converting the light energy into heat energy. The more pigment there is in the bulb, the easier it is for the conversion of heat to reach the optimal temperature. The heat produced destroys the target by denaturing it.

Whilst the follicular temperature reaches 55 to 65 degrees, the epidermis and surrounding tissue remains cooler allowing for specific targeting. With powerful medical grade Lasers and IPL this is achieved efficiently and painlessly.

Integrated cooling systems protect the surface of the skin during treatment. Cooling of the surface is through the use of a cool refrigerated air flowing over the skin during treatment or chill tip contact cooling and ultrasound gel. Specific Laser eyewear or solid eye shields are used to protect the eyes from the IPL or the Laser beam.

Although the shaft of the hair may be carbonized and appear removed, the root of the hair usually takes up to 3 weeks to make its way out. The next cycle of hair is usually treated within 4 to 6 weeks for facial hair or 6 to 8 weeks for body hair. (This is approximate depending on hormonal and individual hair growth.

Hair grows in cycles and has various stages, for this reason a course of treatments is necessary to effectively treat an area. The course of treatments depends on the area to be treated as hairs remain in the active growth stage known as Anagen for different lengths of time on different body areas.

As the Anagen phase is necessary to destroy the hair follicle only a percentage of hairs are treated with each treatment. The number of treatments required to achieve optimal results, will vary according to the hair cycle, with some areas requiring additional or maintenance treatments. A consultation with one of the centre’s dermal clinicians or nurses is important to assess the areas of hair growth and to provide information regarding the proposed laser hair removal treatment program.

Permanent hair removal implies that all the hairs in a given area are removed with no re growth. This can occur in some people over a period of time; however firstly a permanent hair reduction is achieved. The percentage of reduction can be extraordinary; however, it greatly depends on the hair texture and the amount of pigment, the colour of pigment in the hair root, the skin colour and the cause of the unwanted hair growth. The hair is generally reduced, replaced by sparser hair, finer and lighter growth. Dark hairs with dark roots are more likely to achieve permanent laser hair removal. Laser hair removal of fine hairs that are less pigmented can achieve further reduction and long term removal with a combination of laser hair removal technologies.

The expert clinicians at Melbourne Laser & Aesthetic Centre will assess the hair growth and discuss the various technologies and recommend an appropriate course of treatment to achieve the best possible results.

Every one of us who has ever considered laser hair removal has been through the stage of endlessly searching for the ‘best laser hair removal in Melbourne near me’. At Melbourne Laser & Aesthetic centre , the dermal clinicians are highly qualified and offer extensive experience. They provide the best laser hair removal technology in Melbourne.

Preparing for your treatment is as important as the treatment itself. Here is all that you need to keep in mind:

  • Disclose any laser treatment or medication you may have undergone to the clinician during consultation. This will help set realistic expectations once the treatment is complete.
  • Avoid being exposed to the sun at least two weeks prior to the laser hair removal. This is essential since the laser will target pigmentation on the surface of your skin.
  • Avoid fake tan application prior to your laser session
  • Avoid waxing prior to your laser hair removal session. It is best that you shave the area to be treated the day prior. The laser will need the hair roots to identify the hair follicles to be treated. Waxing, on the other hand, will put out the hair root, making the treatment less effective
  • Avoid applying lotions, moisturisers, or deodorants at least 24 hours before and after the appointment.
  • Plan a proper treatment schedule with your clinician rather than opting for random visits. A well-timed, consistent treatment plan will offer the best results.
  • Follow the recommended post care instructions by your clinician to help with any irritation or sensitivity.
  • Avoid any make-up application to the treated areas after the procedure or being exposed to the sun without proper protection to avoid sunburn or likelihood of discolouration. Jane Iredale mineral powder can be used.
  • Avoid activities that could increase the temperature of your body or lead to sweating for about 24 hours after the appointment. This includes taking showers and exercising.

Depending on the specialist’s medical assessment, medication may be prescribed to reduce the hormonal aspect of the hair growth problem. Regardless of whether patients decide to take the prescribed medication or not, the laser hair removal reduces the growth. Medication alone is not usually successful in eradicating the current growth. However, medication assists in reducing the stimulation for growth and assists in preventing new growth.

New growth is likely in those patients that do not take any medication, however maintenance treatments have been successful in eliminating the need for other forms of hair removal. Patients with PCOS that have had Laser hair removal report that it restores confidence with.

  • Ingrown hair
  • Electrolysis

Trapped hairs under the skin are known as Ingrown hair. This condition occurs when hairs are waxed, tweezed or shaven. Ingrown hairs often cause skin pigmentation, inflammation and infection leaving unsightly bumps and discoloured areas. Most people attempt to remove the ingrown hair by squeezing and piercing leaving subsequent scars.

Laser and IPL hair removal treatments solve the Ingrown hair problem by dissolving the trapped hair and by targeting the infection / inflammation. Additionally it actively treats the follicle causing a reduction in hair re-growth.

Overtime the laser hair removal treatments reduce the hair growth, the ingrown hair re-occurrence as well as improving the appearance of the skin restoring the natural skin colour.

Electrolysis is useful on hairs that are non-responsive to laser hair removal treatment. This technique is used on hairs that do not contain the appropriate pigments for laser hair removal such as those that exhibit grey, white, red colours particularly where the hair roots are affected.

A fine single use probe is used to slide down the opening of the hair follicle, alongside the unwanted hair. A controlled, pulse of electrical energy is emitted through the probe, destroying the hair growth cells. The loosened hair is gently removed.

A course of treatment is required to remove the unwanted hair. A combined treatment plan with laser may be required to obtain the best results. A Dermal Clinician will assess the hair and advise accordingly.
