Laser is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. The concept of Laser light was first discovered nearly 100 years ago by Albert Einstein. Today, Laser technologies have advanced so far that they are used extensively across cosmetic, surgical and industrial sectors. Cosmetic Laser and Light technologies range from gentle Low Level Laser for the bio modulation of cellular processes, non-ablative cosmetic laser treatments to the ablation of tissue in Laser skin resurfacing.
Melbourne Laser & Aesthetic Centre use a variety of medical grade laser systems to target specific skin and hair concerns. A number of technologies are often warranted to obtain the desired effect. By combining these technologies the highly experienced clinicians are able to produce optimal results.

The DUETTO MT is the world’s first ‘Mixed Technology’ laser, transcending all conventional laser hair removal systems by simultaneously delivering two laser wavelengths – Alexandrite (755nm) and Long Pulsed Nd: YAG (1064nm). Both gold standards in laser hair removal efficiency, now combined to offer the best possible results.
What is the latest Laser Hair Removal technology? The latest addition to the artillery of laser hair removal is the innovative Duetto MT (Mixed Technology) laser hair removal system. It represents a quantum leap in laser hair removal treatment.
How does mixed laser hair removal technology work? The laser technology offers two lasers in one; a dual laser that emits the best gold standard lasers in laser hair removal; the Long pulsed Nd:YAG (1064 nm) laser as well as the Alexandrite (755 nm) laser. Unlike other laser hair removal technologies that emit only a single wavelength at a time i.e. Alexandrite or Nd YAG alone, the Duetto MT emits both lasers simultaneously.
What are the benefits of mixed laser hair removal treatment? The blend of the two lasers offers superior results in laser hair removal. The Duetto MT Laser hair removal system uses the latest in mixed laser hair removal technology to address the limitations of each of the gold standard lasers alone. Mixed Laser technology allows the clinician to simultaneously
deliver a mix of both Alex (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) in varying proportions. Therefore, the percentage of each laser can be adjusted to cater for all skin and hair colours and textures. Mixing the Alexandrite with the Nd: YAG lasers in various amounts allows for increases in efficacy as well as safety. Both lasers emitted simultaneously absorb into several targets in and around the hair follicle not merely the pigment thus obtaining optimal results for every individual.
The dual laser optimizes results, obtains faster results. It is the ultimate solution for laser hair removal on all skin tones.

Nd YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet) Laser is a 1064nm infrared wavelength, this long wavelength allows it to penetrate deep in the skin to target deep structures. Nd YAG laser is able to safely treat all skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-VI) including tanned skin.
Its chilled copper tip provides contact cooling during treatments making treatments more comfortable.
Alexandrite laser provides the ideal wavelength for laser hair removal, with its high rate of absorption into melanin, it is able to permanently reduce all hair types including fine light hair.
Additionally the 755nm wavelength provides excellent clearance of epidermal pigmented lesions.
The laser parameters, including multiple spot sizes and adjustable settings, allows our experienced dermal clinicians to individually tailor treatments based on hair and skin type for client’s optimal results.
Laser ensures safe and effective treatment by delivering enough energy to treat hair follicles, yet protect the epidermis from thermal injury with a cooling flow of chilled air.
YouLaser MT Ablative & Non-ablative Fractional Laser
This unique mixed technology offers the benefits of both Fractional ablative CO2 as well as the tightening effects of non-ablative fractional 1540nm wavelength. The combination of these wavelengths provides the ultimate in skin rejuvenation with little to no downtime.
The 1540nm non-ablative fractional laser creates deep micro channels within the skin whilst the ablative CO2 10,600nm removes tiny micro ablative dots of tissue. Never before has there been such a technology, it is truly unparalleled.
The treatment can be tailored to the individual’s needs by adjusting the amount of percentage of skin coverage, depth and intensity of each laser beam. The YouLaser MT offers unrivalled Skin tightening, skin resurfacing and Scar reduction. Any part of the face and body can be improved.
The Cynosure MedLite C6 and the Quanta Q plus C Q Switched lasers are well known for their laser tattoo removal results, but offer so much more for skin. The Q Switched lasers offers unmatched Precision Beam Technology and proven results for many skin conditions. By delivering a true flat-top beam profile, the Q Switched lasers produces consistent results with fewer complications. Their homogenous beam delivers energy evenly over the skin’s surface, minimizing epidermal injury and increasing client satisfaction and results.
Unlike other Lasers that use photothermalysis, Q Switch Laser produces a photoacoustic effect often referred to as a shockwave effect, using the combination of high power and nanosecond pulse widths they deliver peak energy to produce effective results. The Medlite C6 and the Q plus C Q Switched lasers offer treatment for all skin colours from the palest to the darkest of skin tones.
Fractionated RF technology is the latest and most advanced radio-frequency treatment providing rejuvenation and textural improvements through skin tightening, ablation and skin resurfacing. Radio Frequency treatment is renowned for its skin tightening effect, combined with its fractionated ablative technology it offers outstanding results in scar and wrinkle reduction.
Melbourne Laser & Aesthetic Centre uses medical grade IPL system with proven results. The centre was the first in Melbourne to offer such treatments in 1997. The directors are pioneers in discovering the IPL’s potential for skin rejuvenation.
IPL is an abbreviation for intense pulsed light, unlike lasers which emit one wavelength of light, IPL technology offers a broad range of light wavelengths. Filters are used to narrow the band of light to selectively treat hair and skin conditions. IPL improves both the surface of the skin and the deeper layers, rejuvenating its appearance and stimulating collagen.
Unfortunately in the last 5 years there has been an influx of cheaper IPL systems offered in the hair and beauty industry. As a result less desirable outcomes and risk of injury has increased.
The Dermal clinicians at Melbourne Laser & Aesthetic Centre are highly qualified, experienced and offer medical grade systems.
